Today, on November 27, 2025 KIPRED presented the policy paper “Interethnic Relations and Reconciliation in Kosovo: Political and Media Narratives in Perspective.” This paper is part of the project “Interethnic Relations and Reconciliation in Kosovo: Media and Political Leaders’ Narratives,” implemented with the support of the regional project “SMART Balkans – Civil Society for Shared Values in the Western Balkans,” carried out by the Centar za promociju civilnog društva (CPCD) in partnership with the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM), and financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA).

This paper examines how political elites, civil society, the media and citizens themselves, together, shape interethnic relations and reconciliation in Kosovo. It combines four empirical pillars: interviews and content coding of the Facebook pages of political parties; interviews with civil society organizations working on interethnic relations; interviews with journalists and editors, complemented by a narrative analysis of reporting in 16 Albanian- and Serbian-language media outlets; as well as a representative public-opinion survey on citizens’ perceptions of interethnic relations, the media and political narratives.
