At this table, members from the key institutions of the rule of law in Kosovo from the central and local level took part, such as: the Judicial Council of Kosovo, the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Police of Kosovo, the Customs of Kosovo, the Unit of Financial Intelligence of Kosovo, Basic Courts (Pejë, Gjakovë), Basic Prosecutor’s Offices (Pristina, Pejë and Gjakovë), Probation Service (Pejë), EULEX, representatives of the EU Liaison Office in Kosovo as well as representatives from civil society organizations .
Initially, the initial findings of the project were presented by KIPRED and SiV, to continue further with the discussions of the actors present at the table.
“It is noted that the work to meet the EU criteria for visa liberalization is being taken very seriously and some of the institutions have taken concrete steps such as action plans to address these criteria. However, the first phase of our research has shown that the institutions of the rule of law are still facing some challenges that mainly have to do with the implementation of the required criteria as well as some problems of a technical nature” – said Ms. Ariana Qosaj-Mustafa, manager of this project and at the same time senior researcher at KIPRED.
Participants at the round table agreed with the initial findings from KIPRED and expressed their opinions regarding the most efficient solutions to the problems we are facing as a country on our way to the EU. Even according to the representatives of the institutions present, the implementation and technical aspects represent a significant challenge, but they are working hard to overcome these problems as soon as possible.
