With the support of KIPRED, the Commission for the Supervision of Public Finances visits Slovenia

In addition to the members and staff of the KMFP, the delegation included the Auditor General Mr. Lage Olofsson as well as the representatives of the KIPRED Institute, Mr. Mr. Artan Venhari and Mr. Albert Krasniqi, who work directly in supporting the commission and building capacities. The purpose of the visit was to see more closely the functioning of the system and the institutions involved in financial compilation and supervision, as well as to exchange experiences with the relevant institutions.

Initially, the delegation of Kosovo visited the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia where it was received in a meeting by the counterpart commission for the Control of Public Finances chaired by Mrs. Alenka Bratušek and other members of this commission. In this meeting, there was a discussion about the challenges that this commission has gone through and how it has faced them, the competences and the way of organizing the work. Then the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia was visited, where a detailed presentation was made by Mr. Bojan Pogačar, director of the Budget Department, regarding the budget system and the legislation that regulates the compilation and approval of the budget as well as the supervision links of budget execution and the role of parliamentary committees in the implementation of this supervision. The last meeting was booked at the Court of Audit of Slovenia, where they were received by the president, Mr. Igor Soltes. Then the second vice president Mr. Zoran Mladenovič held a presentation about the function of the Court, its powers and the way of drafting audit reports. Special attention has been paid to the reports between the Court of Audit and the Parliamentary Commission for the Control of Public Finances.

With the completion of the official meetings planned with the Slovenian institutions, the members of the Public Finance Oversight Committee also held a meeting with the Auditor General of Kosovo Mr. Lage Olofsson, regarding the implementation of the new knowledge gained from the visit to Slovenia, with the aim of improving the cooperation of these two institutions and increasing the efficiency of audits.
