Prishtina, 9 August – At its fifteenth meeting of 2 July 2012, the International Steering Group (ISG) has announced its intention to end Kosovo’s supervised independence sometime in mid-September 2012.
Prishtina, 11 July – The announcement of the International Steering Group (ISG) that Kosovo’s supervised autonomy will end sometime around mid September of this year leaves many problems for the unresolved issue of northern Kosovo.
KIPRED is pleased to announce the appointment of the Institute’s Senior Researcher Mr. Artan Venhari as Deputy Auditor General. Mr. Venhari will take up the position as of 3 September 2012. Mr. Venhari will, besides the responsibilities of a Deputy, have a special role in further development of Performance Audit.
KIPRED Institute has conducted a study on the level of democratization of political parties in Kosovo whilst identifying the achievements and challenges as well as the steps that have to be undertaken in order to improve the democracy within them and the legal framework according to which political parties function daily.
The focus of this paper lies on relations between the Kosovo Albanian and Kosovo Serb communities, not only because these are the biggest communities by far, but also the most antagonizing ones.
This policy paper presents 10 detailed actions to be undertaken in two phases, which ought to be implemented urgently, in light of the announcement of the end of supervised independence.
